Markel Redondo is an award-winning photographer based between Bilbao (Spain) and Biarritz (France), with over 15 years of experience working across sectors. His work covers the full spectrum of commercial work: industrial facilities and energy infrastructure, retail brand openings and product launches, executive and team portraits, and brand events.
Industrial & Energy
A significant part of this work has been produced in the energy and industrial sector — wind farms, solar installations, aerospace facilities and underground infrastructure across Spain, France and China. This requires a photographer comfortable operating in demanding environments, with the technical capacity to produce strong images in conditions that range from cleanrooms to open-cast mines.
Since 2018, Markel is a fully AESA-approved drone operator in Spain, adding an aerial perspective to industrial and infrastructure commissions that would otherwise be impossible to achieve.
Brand Events & Retail
Beyond heavy industry, Markel covers the launch events, store openings and brand activations that define how companies present themselves to press, clients and the public. This demands the ability to move quickly through a crowded space, anticipate moments, and deliver images that capture both the atmosphere of an event and the identity of the brand behind it.
The result is a body of work that spans sectors and scales, from multinational energy companies to independent retail brands, always with the same attention to light, composition and narrative.

Markel has been commissioned by clients including Bosch, L’Oréal and Agfa, as well as organisations such as Greenpeace, UNHCR, Ayuda en Acción and WWF. His editorial and documentary work has appeared in Time, The New York Times, Le Monde, Financial Times Magazine and Der Spiegel.
About Markel Redondo
Born in Bilbao in 1978, Markel grew up in the Basque Country before studying photojournalism in China, where he completed an MA and worked for international agencies and publications. He returned to Europe in 2007 and is now based between Bilbao and Biarritz, fluent in Spanish, Basque, English and French. He is represented by Panos Pictures, one of Europe’s leading editorial photo agencies.

Approach & Working Method
Good business imaging is rarely about making things look perfect. The most effective images are the ones that feel real — a team that looks like they actually work together, a space that communicates the culture of the company behind it, an event captured with enough energy that the viewer feels they missed something by not being there.
Markel brings a photojournalist’s instinct to every commercial assignment: observing before directing, working with available light wherever possible, and prioritising authenticity over artifice. This background in editorial and documentary work — producing images for publications like Time, Le Monde and The New York Times — translates directly into corporate commissions that stand out precisely because they don’t look like stock photography.

Markel is available for corporate assignments and video projects across Spain, France and Europe, working with companies of all sizes from startups to multinationals. Working cities include Bilbao, San Sebastián, Vitoria, Pamplona, Biarritz, Bayonne, Bordeaux and Pau.
